ESTELLE MASKAME WINS AT THE YOUNG SCOT AWARDS 2016
Estelle attended the glittering Young Scot Awards Ceremony on Wednesday evening (27th April) at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. The event was hosted by Radio DJ Edith Bowman, and Estelle was one of three finalists up for the Arts Award. Since its launch in 2006, the Young Scot Awards has celebrated the inspirational contributions of thousands of young Scots who have made a real difference to communities across Scotland, recognising the amazing achievements of some of Scotland’s truly remarkable young people.
Eighteen-year-old author Estelle Maskame from Peterhead has gained more than 4 million fans around the world with her stories of teenage romance set in America. Her Did I Mention I Love You? trilogy tells the story of stepsiblings Eden and Tyler, a Portland girl and Santa Monica boy, who fall in love. Estelle Maskame began writing at 13, and had completed her DIMILY trilogy by the time she was 16. Uploading chapter by chapter on the digital platform Wattpad, the books received over 4 million hits and Estelle gained an extensive and loyal readership of over 140,000 Twitter followers. Since signing a book deal for the trilogy with Edinburgh based publisher Black & White Publishing at the age of 17, Estelle is now enjoying international success. Her DIMILY series has been published across the world in 11 countries so far, including the USA. Estelle is fresh off of a European publicity tour, meeting fans and press in Helsinki, Berlin and Madrid, with more planned trips for this summer. Estelle recently headlined at YAY! YA, Scotland’s first teen festival, and was also shortlisted for a Romantic Novelist’s Association Award for the Best Young Adult Novel 2016.
